Pioneer Makes $10,000 Donation to Youth Programs at Vanderheyden

Today, June 4 at 1 p.m. Pioneer President & CEO Tom Amell will make a $10,000 donation to support youth education and employment programs at Vanderheyden – and then will go to to work behind the cash register at The Vandy Thrift Shoppe during a special event to be held this week.

The donation, in line with the Pioneer Charitable Foundation’s mission of “Helping Kids be Kids,” will support two Vanderheyden programs that provide young people with essential job-related skills to build brighter futures: The Career Center, which offers mentorships, field experiences, and specialized curricula, and The Vandy Thrift Shoppe, which serves as a training location for future retail positions.

Founded in 2018, the foundation has donated more than $1.9 million to support well over 400 local nonprofit organizations that work to improve the health and welfare of Capital Region children through housing, nutrition, or health care, and educational, social and recreational programs. In addition, Pioneer employees contribute hundreds of hours annually in local volunteer service.

This event will provide excellent photo/video and interview opportunities. If you would like to join us the address is The Vandy Thrift Shoppe, 412 Broadway , Albany, NY 12207.
