Meier Law Firm Announces Teacher Appreciation Grant Winners

Meier Law Firm, PLLC is proud to announce the inaugural recipients of its Teacher Appreciation Grant, a philanthropic initiative created to recognize and support outstanding educators serving students across New York’s Capital Region.

The firm is honored to name Karen “Kema” Maxwell as the first Teacher Appreciation Grant recipient. Ms. Maxwell, who teaches Global Fashion Studies at Capital Region BOCES, received a $500 grant to support classroom needs that may not be fully covered by school budgets. These funds will help provide supplies, learning tools, and creative resources that enhance student engagement and hands-on learning. In addition to her work in the classroom, Ms. Maxwell is the owner of Kema’s Kreations, a custom handcrafted bag and luxury jewelry design studio.

After receiving an overwhelming number of thoughtful and inspiring nominations, the firm also recognized two additional educators with honorable mention awards. Reilly Schug, a first-grade teacher at Turnpike Elementary School in the Lansingburgh School District, and Siobhan Matrose, Writing Center Director and English teacher at Shaker High School in the North Colonie School District, were each awarded $100 to support their classrooms.
