Kathleen Skeals

Kathleen begin serving as the Superintendent of North Colonie Central schools on February 1, 2023. Prior to that role, Kathleen served as the Assistant Superintendent and then Deputy Superintendent for 12 years. In fact, Ms. Skeals began her English teaching career at Shaker Junior High School in the North Colonie Central School District in 1988. She transferred to the high school in 1999, before becoming a school district administrator in 2007.

During her time as an educator, Ms. Skeals won the New York State English educator of excellence award, the North Colonie Peter McManus award for excellence in teaching, the YWCA Resourceful Women Award, and received a Fulbright scholarship which resulted in her taking a year away from North Colonie to live and teach in Great Britain.

Skeals earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from The College of Saint Rose, a Master’s in Reading education from the State University of New York at Albany, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Policy and Leadership from the College of Saint Rose.

Kathleen is a lifelong educator, and outside of her time at school, you can find her reading poetry and fiction, attending Broadway plays, traveling to warm climates, and relaxing with her cats in front of the fireplace when it’s too cold to be outside in Upstate New York.
