Ballston Spa National Bank Hosts Drive-Thru Food Pantry

No charge, contactless help for families affected by COVID-19

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – BSNB, in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and the Voorheesville School District, is hosting a contactless drive-thru food pantry on Friday, May 15, beginning at 10:00am in the Clayton A. Bouton High School parking lot located at 432 New Salem Road in Voorheesville. The drive-thru food pantry is open to area families and individuals in need of food.

“We know and understand that area families may be experiencing hardship due to illness or loss of income related to COVID-19,” said Christopher R. Dowd, BSNB president and CEO. “In response, BSNB volunteers will be welcoming area residents at the event and loading boxes of food in each vehicle’s trunk. Thanks to the Regional Food Bank, we anticipate distributing 18,000 pounds of essential food, including fresh produce, dairy, frozen meats and non-perishable food items.”

"The Regional Food Bank of NENY is proud to partner with Ballston Spa National Bank to combat the unprecedented rates of food insecurity caused by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. The drive-thru food pantry is a way to provide essential food to households struggling to access sufficient amounts of healthy foods at this difficult time,” says Susan Lintner, Director of Community Impact, Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. “Our method of providing food 'from the truck into the trunk', minimizes personal contact and optimizes safety for all involved.”

This event is open to the public and free of charge. Patrons will receive food on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. All volunteers will follow CDC guidelines by wearing appropriate masks and gloves while actively practicing social distancing.
